My Words My World

My words are my life, my reality
They are my pain and sorrow told
My love and joy

My words are my home,
My fulfillment,
My nutrition,
My comfort and
My resting place

I love my words like
I love my Life
They’ve become my best friend and
My lover

They show me compassion  at night
Warm me up in the cold and
Embrace me when I’m lonely

Know that my words are my very emotion
They are my world.

My words eat into my flesh
Down to my soul and leave
Me empty with cracked bones
These words strangle the breath
Of life out of me and leave me for
dead by the wayside.
But I love these words like a child
Loves his mother
Therefore I will not let it go
I open up my heart
Let it in and rape me of my sanity's
Lift the joy of normality out of me
And leave me for folly in the eyes of men.
I love these  words so I  continually drown
In the unforeseen pleasure and satisfaction
They give me.

LONG TIME NO SEE

it's been awhile since I've been on my blog or even put up recent original. This is mainly due to some
personal battles I have been fighting. But I'm here, I'm back and I'm writing like life depends on it.

PHENOMENIAL WOMAN BY MAYA ANGELOU

TO EVERY WOMAN IN THE WORLD FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

THE FALL

FALL

As much as I hold on to the rope of denial
every once in a while I let go and fall

Fall deeply in love with the one not meant for me.
deeply in love with the heart breaker
deeply in love with the dangerous one

I fall for the sly wolf, crafty one
so deep that it takes years to get back up

Love lost in the vast deep blue sea, with crooks
ready to tear my heart, body, spirit and soul into pieces

I always fall for the dodgy type that says he loves me
then leaves when my heart aches most for him

I fall for his words, his love, his lust, his body his soft touch
spellbound I fall deeper and deeper each day

I fall, fall and keep falling until I reach the pit
of hatred for his type, till I fall again

Oh Racism

I stroll
down the streets of  Swellendam
you  are nowhere to be found
until I walk into the restaurant
hunger shutting my eyes to see
 no black people in here
I sit and wait, and wait
to be attended to, all  waiters
ignoring my call, my signaling
comes the manager saying
“ we  do not serve your kind here”
I look all around me and
find the absence of  diversity
starring back at me
I laugh and say, “Oh there you are”
“Racism, there you are”
 “long time no see”

As I introduce myself
to class and mention
I am African, Liberian
somebody snickers
 silent whispers of “Ebola”
for a minute I thought I was free
of you, a whole day in different
classes and you do not show
as those words were muttered
 I laughed
and said “oh there you are racism”
“Long time no see”

Oh racism you hide
but I see you as I am
stopped and questioned
by the law wanting to know
why I jog  the streets of Ferguson
“Because I am black?”
for an hour  you do not  show
I sigh and look up to heaven and wonder
when will I die and leave this earth
where to be black is nothing but a crime
I laugh as they cuffed me and said
“Oh racism there you are”
“Long time no see”

This poem was inspired by specific areas in the world that people still suffer racism; by people who experience racism ; by those who died in the hands of racist.

LEAVE ME FOR HER

LEAVE ME FOR HER

Leave me for her
Go be with her
She that:
warms your bed
when I turn my head
even as I stare
The One who makes you
Not sure about me again

Leave me for her
Have dinner with her:
The dates promised
But went with her
Special moments created
But molded with
 her
The One who makes you
Not sure about me again

Leave me for her
Go on holiday with her:
plans made for me...
" Whilst I was vulnerable; wishing for home "
...but fulfilled with her
The honeyed words
You Spoke but felt by her
The One that makes you
Not sure about me again

You left me for her
And I knew:
the
Moment your words
Became lesser and less,
harsher and harsh,
When your kisses
felt ice cold
And touch Left me
bruised,
But I wish you luck
happiness too
With the One who
Made you not sure
About me again.

hello and Goodbye

Time to say Good bye:

Good bye

To memories

Good and bad

To love

almost bloomed

To emotions

Dug deep

Your words warmth

Your hugs lie

Your frost kiss

Good bye  to  You

to the aged me

that loved you

to us which never

became, this is me

saying hello to

Good byes

the Good byes and not goodbyes have a deeper meaning, that says it all ends on a good note but at the same time, there is no going back to what used to be or what could have been.
